Temperature
Temperatures were above normal in the majority of the region, with the highest temperatures being 8°F to 10°F above normal in parts of northern and western Wyoming. The lowest temperatures were 2°F to 4°F below normal in southeastern Wyoming.
Temperatures in western North Dakota, and northern and western Wyoming reached 8°F to 10°F above normal, with an area in northeastern Wyoming reaching 10°F above normal. The hottest temperature was 78°F in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, which is 5°F above normal for the area. The lowest temperatures were greater than 10°F below normal in southeastern Wyoming.
Temperatures across central North Dakota, and southcentral South Dakota reached 0°F to 3°F below normal, with some areas in both states reaching 3°F to 6°F below normal. The coldest temperature was 38°F in Casper, Wyoming, which is 2°F above normal for the area. The highest temperatures were 12°F to 15°F above normal in northeastern Wyoming, and a small area in central Nebraska.
Precipitation
Precipitation amounts varied in the region, ranging from less than 2 percent of normal in northern Wyoming, northern Nebraska, across southern, eastern, and northern Wyoming, scattered parts of southern South Dakota, and an area in southwestern North Dakota, to more than 800 percent of normal in southeastern Colorado, western Kansas, and a small area in eastern North Dakota. Syracuse, Kansas received 7.77 inches of precipitation with most of it falling on the 2nd.
Drought continues in the region. D0 (abnormally dry) conditions decreased from 88 percent to 83 percent. In the region, North Dakota experienced the highest decrease in D0 conditions by 16 percent while Wyoming experienced no changes in D0 conditions.
